Sound for Yogis workshop at Pine Rivers Yoga

Yoga is a state of being. A state of centerdness, equanimity, peace, and well-being. A state of present moment awareness where we are grounded in our centre, in union with our true divine self. Of increasing interest to yoga practitioners is the use of sound healing practices, with sound healing instruments, including our voices, as a way we might deepen our daily practice and further support us in our goal to achieve this state of yoga.

Many of us practice yoga for its health benefits. Scientific studies have suggested that as much as 90 percent of illness and disease is stress related. Therefore, our wellbeing relies heavily on finding our way out of this stress! Yogis already know the benefits of pranayama, asana and meditation in stress relief.  I now add sound to my yoga classes to alleviate life stressors and bring calm, relaxation, and inner peace to all my clients even those with limited yoga experience or mobility.  I use simple chants and mantra, singing bowls, gong, chimes, tuning forks and drum. I use sound therapeutically in both yoga therapy and sound healing sessions to support the management a variety of underlying conditions or symptoms.
